Why we should not tank for the '17 Draft
1) 2017 is a PG Draft, top 3 are PGs. 2) There is a high chance we lose the pick even if we tank. While 2018 is a SF/C Draft and we keep our pick. Top 3 players have tremendous potential. If we want to tank we should tank '18. We should tank the draft we have a 100% chance of keeping our pick in and a top 5 will get us a stud we need. A little breakdown of the '18 Draft: Mohamed Bamba is a more mobile and athletic Rudy Gobert type player, 7'0, 7'9 wingspan. Ayton has questions about his motor but he has more potential than his player comparisions KAT/AD. Michael Porter Jr. is the closest thing to KD with the shooting touch, todays NBA is all about having elite shooters. Kevin Knox is still developing his offensive skills but he's a lockdown perimeter defender, gives a baby Giannis vibe. Wendell Carter Jr is Al Horford 2.0. Hopefully the tank talk ends because the '17 Draft is not what we're looking for. It would be a shame to lose our pick in the draft with our needs. Best case scenario though is DLo/Ingram/Randle become the superstars they have the potential to be and Zu becomes Marc Gasol 2.0. But to put this tank in motion we don't resign Swaggy P. Start DLo, Ingram, Deng, Randle, Zubac. Second unit stays the same with the JC/Lou show, we sign some scrub SF to fill Ingrams spot in the 2nd unit. This tank will develop our young guys and if they really develop well then we will win games and it'll be fine not getting a top pick. If they don't perform up to par it'll put us in position to get the possible missing piece. One player can change a franchise. MPJ/Ayton/Bamba all legitimately have the potential to be that guy. It'll be a natural tank the way it should be.
