What's behind this Magic Hiring?
I feel like the Magic hiring is the sign of something brewing in the front office of the Lakers. I'm not sure if it signifies the end of Jim and Mitch, but all the articles about Jerry West and Magic indicate to me that this is Jeanie's way of initiating a transition in taking her brother out of power.
If it was up to me, I would love to hire Jerry on as an advisor, and have Jim also take a step back into an advisor role, while Ryan West takes his position as head of Operations. I would love for Mitch to remain as the GM, because he is very knowledgable and talented, but I think bringing on Jerry/Magic could help compensate for some of Mitch's deficiencies when it comes to alluring other players to join our squad.
With that being said however, I don't see it going down like this, and I feel like this will bubble into something a bit more dramatic given how much the media likes creating drama for this franchise. Jeanie seems to want to clean house, and Jim/Mitch seem unwilling to go down easy.
